About

Hi! I’m Daniel Barr. I live in the Litchfield Hills of Northwest Connecticut with my husband David, and Esther, a Norwegian Forest cat who found us three years ago, and decided to stay, much to our delight.

My upbringing was ‘on the move,’ relocating to a new city with each promotion of my ambitious father. You learned quickly that no matter how cool  you were in Columbus, in Chicago, you’re wearing the wrong sneakers, and saying the wrong things. I then realized that coming from the outside, I was able to see things with an untainted eye; for what they really were, not what they were believed to be.  As The Emperor’s New Clothes taught us, pointing out the obvious is not always welcome, but it trained me to question things, to really search for meaning and value, to welcome certain things into my life, and let others go. Trained as a writer and an actor, I’ve spent most of my life observing people in various situations, moving through life as best we can, always striving to be better…. So step into the world through my eyes, going through life’s challenges—the achievements and the failures—and maybe begin to understand the world better by challenging yourself to face your own dragons, and perhaps help us all see the world in a kinder light.

Some things I try to remember facing each day:
-Life is not about ‘settling’—but many of us do.
-Challenge yourself to be better in all ways.
-Express your creative interests—they’re to help us reach higher levels of who we can be, whether that is a singer, a mechanic, a painter, a salesman, or a gardener.
-We are all unique individuals, and as such, we have the responsibility to use our gifts, sharing them with the world, and making the world a better place than we found it.
-We show our respect for each other/ourselves/God, etc., by how we treat each other.
-My way of doing things may not be your way of doing things. And that’s okay.
-We don’t need approval: we need vision and courage.

So, thank you for joining me on this journey into life’s challenges and realizations, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions.
